Screensavers used to be the most alive thing on a computer — flying toasters, starfields, the slow migration of an aquarium. Somewhere along the way the screen just went dark. We built Surrealism to give that space back to something worth looking at.

Every loop in Surrealism is a seamless, high-bitrate video — no hard cuts, no visible seams. When one loop hands off to the next, the app performs a true cross-fade, so the whole thing reads as a single continuous piece rather than a deck of wallpapers clicking past. Walk away and it plays across every display. Come back and it’s exactly where a moving painting should be.

Now with playback you control

This release adds a proper Playback panel. Turn Shuffle on for a different order every time, or off to move through the collection deliberately. Set the Cross-fade length to taste — a quick dissolve or a long, cinematic bleed. And with Choose Loops, you pick exactly which pieces stay in rotation, straight from their thumbnails. No menus, no file names — just the art.

When you’re ready for the full, ever-growing library, the Founder’s Lifetime unlocks every loop, forever, for a one-time $69. New loops we add later are simply yours. Bring your own seamless videos too — drop them in and they join the rotation.

It’s notarized by Apple, runs on macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later on both Apple Silicon and Intel, and works fully offline once the library has downloaded.

How the loops are made

Every loop in Surrealism is created with Infinidream.ai, Scott Draves’ generative-art engine in the Electric Sheep lineage. Surrealism Today works on Infinidream as a partner, and uses it to paint these dreamscapes — seamless, high-bitrate loops made to play unattended for hours.
